With over 40 years in the maritime industry, Nigel commenced his career as a navigating cadet officer with Cunard, providing an excellent foundation for a business career in an industry that is based on attributes of hard work and common sense, which still hold true today. Upon being encouraged to come ashore, wide ranging management responsibilities within Cunard included the ship management, passenger, cargo, aviation, shipbroking, liner, offshore & leisure divisions.

Significant experience in all aspects of ship management, ownership, chartering, operations and training, including e-learning, as well as mergers and acquisitions from inception to completion, including the all-important seamless integration process, post-acquisition.

Since the age of 35, Nigel has held group CEO positions within the global ship owning, ship management and maritime training sectors, including the challenge of building a ship management business up from zero into a truly diverse fleet of 135 full technically-managed vessels. Ongoing senior advisor to the maritime, fuel treatment technology, private equity, energy, satellite communication, legal, startup, technical services & support sectors, also having a global network of industry contacts.

Highly experienced non-executive director, audit committee chairman & member of nominating & corporate governance & compensation committees for publicly-listed companies. Past member of the board of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, the Marine Shipping Mutual Insurance hull club, Germanischer Lloyd Cyprus Technical committee, InterManager & BIMCO Documentary committee. Chairman of the Cayman Islands Shipowners’ Advisory Council.

Keen interest in the commercial and general aviation sectors, holding a EASA & FAA private pilot’s licence (aircraft), including single-engine, multi-engine and instrument ratings.
